BLC Framework

In order to support teachers in implementing the bilingual learning communities framework, an online toolkit of learning and teaching strategies has been prepared. The strategies are mainly based on those described in “Bilingual and Multilingual Learners from the Inside Out” by Schofield and McGeary (2016), and have been adapted to suit the requirements of the bilingual learning communities framework. They can be implemented flexibly, in multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary modes of learning, and are applicable to both Chinese and English language development.

The strategies have been arranged into five sections according to topic:

In order to promote the sharing of good practices and exchange of ideas regarding classroom implementation of the framework, teachers are invited to share experiences and reflections on the strategies. In particular, teachers can upload feedback and examples of their use of the strategies in their own specific context. Videos or photographs showing how the strategies are implemented would be very welcome.
