YCYW Professional Development Days

We're thrilled to announce that Yew Chung Yew Wah Education Network's (YCYW) professional development days were a smash hit! With the theme "Learn. Grow. Empower.", over 70 webinars were delivered across 20 campuses in just two days.

Our CEO Dr. Betty Chan delivered a rousing speech at the opening of the event, and she had some exciting news to share. YCYW has just hit another milestone in our 90-year journey – the global publication of the “Yew Chung Approach to Early Childhood Education” by Routledge, the leading academic publisher. Prof. Paul Yip, Chairman of YCYW, delivered our day 2 opening speech and requested all YCYW staff to stand by our goals of inspiring knowledge and nurturing citizens for the nation, deepening understanding of the country and keeping pace with the development of the country.

We were honoured to have Jennifer Zhu Scott join us to talk about "The Future of Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence". She urged us to be like "shepherds" in this era of ChatGPT, guiding our students to use technology responsibly in their learning journey and become responsible digital citizens. Guest speaker Rushton Hurley wowed us with his stories of success, drawing on his experience in education around the world to promote professional development, dynamic learning, and community relations among schools and the broader community.

We are committed to continuously improving our PD Days. We've received hundreds of valuable survey inputs from our staff and will use the data collected to inform our planning for future events. We are already considering a range of exciting ideas, such as increasing the opportunities for face-to-face workshops now that restrictions have lifted, broadening the range of topics and speakers in the workshops to meet diverse audience needs, and ensuring that the event is constructed around themes that act as a catalyst for ongoing learning and action. Looking forward to making our PD Days even better in the future!

All video recordings are now available on the webinar website.

YCIS Shanghai Receives China Schools Awards

We're excited to announce that Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS Shanghai) has won the Staff Development and Wellbeing Award at the British Chamber of Commerce’s China Schools Awards 2022 in Chengdu on 24 February! It's a testament to Yew Chung Yew Wah Education Network's (YCYW) long-term commitment to talent development and growth.

The China Schools Awards (CSA) recognize excellence in K12 international education in China, and more than 100 schools from across the country applied for the award. After a rigorous application and panel interview process and careful considerations by the organizers’ independent judging panel, YCIS Shanghai emerged as the winner of the Staff Development and Wellbeing Award.

We're proud to say that this award recognizes schools that have made outstanding contributions to cultivating the professionalism, wellbeing and personal growth of their staff and know that this recognition highlights the outstanding work that all of our schools do in supporting the development and wellness of staff.
